Everything You Should Know Before Visiting Juliet’s House In Verona

Things are getting romantic in the Italian city of Verona! And what could be more romantic than a visit to Romeo and Juliet’s famous balcony?! The “Casa di Giulietta” or “Juliet’s House” is a popular tourist destination and one of the main attractions of Verona.

Famous for being the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the house is just 500 feet away from Verona’s Piazza Delle Erbe. This place is symbolic of the love of the two protagonists who, according to the story, met here for the first time and had a significant encounter. Although the play is fictional, many believe the house was the real location of Romeo and Juliet.

The play by Shakespeare was created in 1596. The level of fame increased immensely again when the play was filmed in 1996. Leonardo di Caprio (played Romeo) and Claire Danes (Juliet) took part in the film in the main roles. Even though the balcony was added to the house later, this does not detract from the atmosphere of this place!

Fun facts about Juliet’s House

Juliet’s House is a historic building in Verona, Italy. The building was originally built as a palace for the Capulet family. Many legends surround this house and its connection to Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.

The house is privately owned but can be visited by tourists who want to see where Romeo and Juliet fell in love. You can also visit Julia’s grave, which is located in the nearby churchyard.

The house was built around 1450 by Giulietta Capuleti, known as “the most beautiful girl in all of Verona.” The building has been restored to look as it did when it was built in the 13th century. You will truly feel like you were taken back in time while visiting it.

O Romeo, Romeo!

While visiting the outside and inside of the Casa di Giulietta, tourists can see where Juliet is said to have stood on her balcony and delivered her famous lines to Romeo. Whether you’re a Shakespeare fan or not, a visit to the Casa di Giulietta is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

The garden of Juliet’s House is also interesting. There you can see the statue of Juliet, among other things, as well as the walls, which are covered with graffiti and love letters. Inside the building, curious visitors can also visit the museum. You have the chance to enter Juliet’s bedroom and see her balcony, where she would have spoken to Romeo.

Tickets and lines

There is often a long line to get into the museum. But even if you don’t have time to go inside, it’s worth stopping by this historic building, because the Casa di Giulietta is one of the city’s absolute landmarks.

As you can imagine, this is one of the most visited places in Verona. If you would like to see Juliet’s house in peace and quiet without crowds of tourists, you should visit it very early in the morning or in the evening.  During the day the rush of tourists at the Casa di Giulietta is known to be very large.

As far as admission and the topics of tickets and money are concerned, we have some great news. You can look at and marvel at the famous balcony at the house for free. You only have to pay the entrance fee if you also want to visit the museum!
