Franklin Canyon Trail is a nice, easy hike. (It’s less of a hike and more of a walk actually). It’s the perfect hike for a beginner or for someone looking for a nice stroll around a lake. While this trail is a 1.9 mile trek, it’s almost all flat and is good for families and people of all skill levels. (Though keep in mind the trails are a little too wild for strollers and things of that nature.) This trail takes you through a beautiful patch of woods in the mountains by Beverly Hills and circles two lakes. The thing that stood out to me about this hike, specifically, was the array of wildlife. There were more turtles on this trail then I’ve ever seen in one place. There were also many birds, baby ducks, several types of fish, and lots of people walking dogs.
The trail is well-maintained and offers scenic benches to relax and decompress by the lake. There is also a fair amount of shade for you to sit in if you need to cool down. Depending on the time of the year, there can be very little wildflowers placed around the water, as well. I found a cool little wicker hut when I was there.
I’ll keep this short and sweet. But all-in-all, this is a beautiful little trail to stroll on, and it’s great for puppies, dogs, children, and the elderly. I highly recommend this as a great starter hike or a walk for a day you want to relax a little more.
