Heading To The Big Apple And What You Might Want To Do When You Get There

New York City is definitely one of the locations that you will find on many bucket lists. It is an iconic place to visit and with so much to see and do in America’s Big Apple, you can find that you are truly spoiled for choice. Whether it is an extended stay or short trip with just one bag, there is something for everyone. There are some great things to do and places to see and with that in mind here are some of the things that could inspire you if you have a trip planned or coming up in the future. 


Embrace the iconic Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is one of the iconic buildings in New York City and so it definitely is one of those places that you may want to head to the top of just to say you have done it. The views from the top of the skyline of NYC will have you grabbing your camera and snapping away. You might want to look at Luxury Hotels near Empire State Building if you want to be close to the action. 

The Statue of Liberty

ANother iconic site would be the Statue of Liberty and one of the best ways to see it is from a boat and sailing around it. You can even have a tour and head to the island and picking up tickets in advance can often help you save on this attraction. 

Enjoy a show on Broadway 

A great reason to visit NYC is to take in one of the amazing shows you can find on Broadway. There are some popular shows in New York that you can see and some of them have some very famous faces in them as well. Many actors and actresses want to have a “gig” on Broadway, which is why it is well worth researching what you want to see before you go. 

Have your picture taken at Times Square

Times Square is another iconic place. The famous intersection has bright lights, many different advertisements and shoppers to keep your eyes gazing from one part to the next. Many want a selfie or picture with Times Square as their backdrop. The perfect Instagram capture. It is certainly worth a visit just to say that you have been there. 

The 9/11 memorial and museum

There was certainly a sadness and devastation that was in the air back when the terrorist attacks hit the Twin Towers. But now where once stood two very large buildings that dominated the NYC skyline, you will find the 9/11 memorial and the museum. It is definitely worth spending the time to show your respect and will be an experience not to forget. 

Take a walk around Central Park


Central Park is definitely one of the highlights of New York City, and is in the center of the city. A walk around the park, sitting in a horse drawn carriage and watching the world go by, it is certainly a great way to spend some time and can give you a chance to slow down a little as the city can be full of hustle and bustle. 

Find the famous sites from your favorite TV shows 

Finally, you may want to go around the Big Apple looking for some of the famous sights from your much loved TV shows. Perhaps you want to find where Central Perk would be and the famous Friends apartment, or even the door of the Manhattan apartment famous in the series sex and the city.

Malorie Mackey is an actress, published author, and adventurer. Malorie grew up in Richmond, Virginia where she loved sports, the outdoors, animals, and all forms of art. She took to acting at a young age, so it was no surprise when she decided to go to college for theatre. While in college, Malorie studied body movement with the DAH Theatre in Belgrade, Serbia, voice in Herefordshire, England with Frankie Armstrong, and the business of theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Malorie moved from the East Coast to Los Angeles after receiving her BFA in Theatre Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon arriving in LA, Malorie participated in the Miss California USA 2011 Pageant where she won the “Friend’s Choice” Award (by popular vote) and received a beautiful award for it.

While living on the West Coast, Malorie accumulated over 40 acting credits working on a variety of television shows, web series, and indie films, such as the sci-fi movie “Dracano,” the Biography Channel show “My Haunted House,” the tv pilot “Model Citizen” with Angie Everhart, and the award-winning indie film “Amelia 2.0.”

Throughout her experiences, Malorie found a love for travel and adventure, having journeyed to over a dozen countries experiencing unique locations. From the lush jungles of the Sierra Madre mountain range to the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, Malorie began adventuring and writing about her unique travels. These travel excerpts can be found on VIVA GLAM Magazine, in Malorie’s Adventure Blog, in Malorie’s adventure show: “Weird World Adventures” and in the works for her full-length travel book.

In 2022, Malorie was thrilled to become a member of the Explorer’s Club through her work on scientific travel. Her experiences volunteering on archaeological and anthropological expeditions as well as with animal conservation allowed her entry into the exclusive club. Since then, Malorie has focused more on scientific travel.
