Crystals are powerful sources of energy. However, it’s not always the type of energy that we desire. If you use crystals in your everyday life, especially for spiritual purposes, you will notice that after a certain time, they will start to feel a bit different. It’s difficult to explain how, but any crystal lover knows what I’m talking about. That’s when you’ll know that it’s time to discharge and charge your crystals appropriately. Here’s how to do that.
Discharge them first
Before you can charge your crystals, you have to discharge them first. The easiest way to do that is with the help of water. If you are lucky enough to live near the sea or even a river, you can place your crystals (carefully) in running water for an hour. This won’t work for all crystals, especially not the fragile ones like selenite. There are also ways to do that at home. Take a bowl and fill it with sea salt and purified water. Then place the crystals in another, smaller bowl, and place it into your sea salt and water mixture. Due to the fact that the crystals aren’t in direct contact with water, you can leave them like this overnight. Alternatively, you can also smoke your gems with dried sage or another nice incense blend.
Embrace the moonlight
It’s particularly common to charge crystals in the moonlight. To do this, they should first be discharged (with water or sage, as we previously explained) and then placed in the moonlight overnight. Bonus points for full moon nights! A crystal that should definitely be charged in the moonlight is amethyst. Amethyst geodes will fade and lose their beautiful purple color over the years if exposed to direct sunlight. All other crystals benefit from the energy of sunlight too. A few hours of sunshine at the window or on the balcony recharge a freshly discharged stone with energy.
Crystals love earth
The easiest way to charge your crystals is to place them in a jar with sand or earth. Mother Earth accepts and transforms any bad energy that your crystals may have accumulated. Your crystals should be left in the sand or soil for a few hours or overnight. Make sure to research your specific crystal to see if burying it in sand or earth can be harmful to it.
Energy healing
Reiki or other similar energy-healing techniques are a great way to charge crystals. Energy healing can be used to enhance your own frequency and the energies in your environment so that everything resonates at a higher frequency and has a better vibe. Healing crystals lose some of their original vitality through use and coming into contact with negative energies. You may bring back the positive vibrations of your crystals by using energy healing.
Using other crystals
Crystals can also be charged with the help of other crystals. Their own energies interact with the energy of the crystal-charging station to produce crystals that are intensely highly vibrationally charged. Some crystals work better than others for that. The most powerful crystals for this charging method are clear quartz, black tourmaline, rose quartz, and selenite.
Bonus tip: Follow your intuition
Some crystals won’t need to be discharged and recharged. They just have a good vibe, no matter what. This is especially true if the crystal is still relatively new and you received it as a gift from a loved one. Just follow your intuition and use whatever method you think would work best for your crystal collection.
