If there’s one thing that you should add to your New Year’s resolutions for 2024, it’s to feel more like a prince or princess! And we have found the perfect places to help you do that! These real-life fairy tale villages and towns will make you feel like you stepped into a Disney movie.

And we’re not talking about over-the-top decor or kitschy design. We’re talking about deep rooted culture and rich history combined with charming architecture. So, let’s get started, shall we?

Hallstatt, Austria

Of course, we have to start with a classic. And what’s more classic than Hallstatt in Austria? This lovely place nestled along a lake and surrounded by breathtaking mountains will make you feel like there is still some magic left on earth.

From wooden buildings in pretty pastel colors, to a reflective lake with swans swimming on it. Everything is in perfect balance and harmony, which makes it all feel a bit unreal.

Because this is such a small village, one day will be more than enough to explore Hallstatt. But that doesn’t mean that you will get sick of it in one day! You will probably fantasize about moving there the moment you arrive.

Now, Hallstatt has a different vibe depending on the season during which you’re visiting. If you’re looking for a winter wonderland — December and January will be perfect. But if you want to explore more of the outdoorsy adventures, warmer months may be the better option.

Kotor, Montenegro

When talking about real-life fairy tale villages, Montenegro isn’t often on the list. And we don’t understand why. Because Kotor is everything a prince or princess could ever need. And the best part? You don’t have to be a royal to afford it, because this is one of the most affordable places in Europe.

So while you will feel like you stepped into a story book, you won’t have to go through all of your life savings to have a good time here. Kotor sits on the shore of a bay, so you will be able to enjoy some nice days at the beach. But once you get tired of sun bathing, you can also explore the nearby mountains.

Sighnaghi, Georgia

Even though this is more of an offbeat and unknown towns in continental Europe, it doesn’t make it any less beautiful. In fact, this only gives Sighnaghi an additional layer of charm. Located in eastern Georgia, this is one of the most enchanting places in this country.

Nestled atop a hill, the easiest way to reach Sighnaghi is from Tbilisi. It is overlooking the stunning Alazani Valley in Georgia’s Kakheti region. And it’s also one of the best places to visit if you want to indulge in some Georgian wine and cuisine.

Located in the center of Georgia’s wine-producing region, you will have the chance to explore different family-owned wineries and learn more about their traditional viticulture that dates back more than 8,000 years ago.
