It’s definitely a scary time in the world right now. And one thing is certain: traveling for leisure is pretty much off the table for the next year. I had a big volunteer gig planned in South Africa in May that, of course, could not happen. And my future trip plans have all been stopped dead in their tracks. So, what’s an adventure lover to do? How can you get your excitement kicks at home during this trying time? With no end in sight to this pandemic, it is definitely time to restructure your life and come up with adventures to have at home. By creating excitement in your own living room, you can hopefully scratch that travel itch.

How Can You Create New Adventures at Home?

Reconnecting with your inner child is the best way to find new adventures. Think about it: children are always having fun and finding new ways to see the world. Perhaps changing your perspective and facing this quarantine in a creative way with satiate your need for adventure and give you a new experience from home. So, how can you do that?

Build a Fort

Think about how much fun you had building pillow forts as a kid. When we had imagination, a fort could be a castle, a club house, or our very own fully furnished home. The possibilities were endless. Well, what’s stopping you from building a fort right here, right now? I did it, and it put a smile on my face. I spent several nights in quarantine in my fort, and it was everything I could have asked for. My husband and I played cards in the fort, played with the cats, and created our own adventures from it. Tonight, I was even playing video games on my computer from my fort. It may seem like a minor excitement, but a fort really could brighten up your home.

Create Your Own Water Park Adventure

When I was little, jumping through sprinklers was my favorite thing to do on a hot summer day. With temperatures rising so much now, I purchased an inflatable pool and filled it with water. They make adult-sized versions, so why not grab your favorite story and read in the pool; Or you can grab your favorite drink and splash around with your hubby in the water. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, you can pull out a slip and slide! My elementary school used to host “water park field day” where we would go outside and participate in water activities such as these. Make your own “water park field day” at home today!

Put Together a Scavenger Hunt

I’ve been asking for a scavenger hunt for years, so my husband used this time to put one together for me. It’s simple to come up with clues, write them on paper, and place them around the house. My hunt took me on an adventure all around our home, got my brain working, and provided me with some laughs during this hard time. Surprise your roommate or spouse with an exciting treasure hunt. And have them return the favor later on by creating one for you!

Write Your Own Adventure

I LOVE using my imagination to live through possible adventures I can’t go on right now. Whether you are writing your own adventure or someone else’s, you can live or re-live a new adventure daily. What do I mean by this? Perhaps, it’s that time to start your journal and record all of your favorite adventures that you have lived through. Re-living them may put a smile on your face. Or maybe you can finally start that book you’ve been talking about? Write your own epic adventure story- we all know you have the time now!

Whatever tickles your fancy, think about new exciting ways to get adventurous in your living room. There are many possibilities to help you get your fill of adventure until the world opens back up. And when it does, be really for some EPIC deals. THEY ARE COMING with the return of the travel industry. Stay tuned, and I’ll be sure to tell you all about them.

Onto the Next Adventure
