Son of a Psychic

A little insight about Christian Mysticism and psychic phenomenon from the son of intuitive Donita King

As a general rule, I tend to avoid bringing up my spiritual upbringing because most people don’t know how to take that information. As you have probably already guessed from the title, I was raised by a psychic who is descended from a strong family line of supernaturally gifted individuals. What is more uncommon is that this mysticism is inherently Christian in nature, my mother being a long-standing member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, a place created by the legendary intuitive, Edgar Cayce, who wrote and inspired many books on the subject. I grew up hearing stories and experiencing things that most people either can’t or won’t accept, and I make it a habit of not trying to convince anyone. However, when you grow up in the environment I did, seeing, hearing, and experiencing things as I did, you simply accept it as fact. Believe me, there is no denying the psychic things I have experienced.

So, why take the time to write an article about it now? Well, frankly, whether you believe me or not, you might just find it interesting. From a young age, my mother encouraged my brother and I to keep our third eye open and not deny any strange intuitions that came to us. Now, I, personally, am not incredibly gifted when it comes to psychic phenomenon, at least not compared to my mother and brother who are scary gifted, but I did learn to listen to the universe. And it has had great effect from time to time. I, personally, have dreams when something big is coming my way, good or bad, and I learned to decipher dreams as a consequence. I also have an eye for reading people, either in real life or in pictures, and one bad phenomenon tied to me is that electronics burst/explode if I get angry and forget myself. I’ve wiped hard drives, started my car, burst light bulbs, and even in rare instances, caused localized flickering and power outages.

Now, that all sounds crazy right? Well, take it or leave it; it happens to be true. Let’s step back and analyze my ability to read people, as that may be more relatable. Let’s forget the word ‘psychic’ for a second. So, like an expert police officer, I seem to have the ability to know things about someone simply from a picture read. My mother put me in classes that expanded and sharpened this ability to the point that it scares most people when I say what I can pick up. I have been able to notice things such as a tendency towards depression, whether someone is creative or intelligent in the classical sense. I can tell the type of environment they grow up in or what their family life may look like. Sometimes, I even get bits of information that I couldn’t possibly gather, like if they love dogs or like to go for walks in the park. I say all this to point out that psychics use their reading talents in other ways than just crystal balls or tarot cards. There are many differences and like people, talents are different per person.

You may have heard of a horse whisperer, but when I first moved to Virginia, my mother introduced me to a medium who also specialized in dog whispering. My dog was getting loose and aggressively rushing after people in the street, and we didn’t know how to stop her. So, my mom made a call. The specialist sat with my dog, and after 15 minutes got up and did a walk around our parameter with her. When she returned, she told us that she didn’t know our new property line and that it shouldn’t be a problem anymore. What do you know, it never was again.

One benefit from a psychic mother strong in foretelling is the occasional life guidance readings I receive. At every pivotal moment of my life, I call my mother for a reading. She can sense possibilities coming in for me, like paths I need to look out for, and tries to guide me toward the one that serves my wants and safety best. My mother was always afraid to push her spirituality on me, as I’m a fairly logically-minded individual, so she would do these cute little mom prods when she felt something coming in for me randomly.

“See, I know I’m your mother, and you might not always want to hear things…” She’d often start with phrases of that nature. See, I am also a frightened individual, so I NEVER told her, “No, I am uninterested in learning about important bits in my future. Thank you.” … Seriously who would do that? I always wanted to know even if I decided to disregard it later. One such story was her telling me to avoid getting in a white truck. I laughed because none of my friends owned one. Well, 4 hours later, as I was getting into my friend’s father’s borrowed truck, I remember my girlfriend at the time reminding me what my mother had said. Without hesitation, I got out of the truck and decided not to grab food with my friend. Now he was OK, but he got into an accident with a car that hit the passenger side door pretty seriously, not even five minutes afterwards. Stories like this are why I always listen to mommy.

If you found some of this information interesting and would like to know more, I suggest you head over to my mother’s website. In an hour, she can help give you advice and lead you toward a path that just might make you happier. Her psychic readings always help me when I’m feeling lost or need to make a big decision. And there are many who, like me, head to her for monthly readings or check-ins. I will also be returning to this subject with more stories from my past that may shock or inspire you towards some late-night deep dives into the subject. I mean, isn’t that what life is all about?

The Real Monsters of the Odyssey, and What They Might Have Actually Been

I finally saw The Odyssey this week, and honestly, the monsters are what stuck with me most. Not because they’re scary, exactly, but because a few of them kept nagging at me afterward.
