The Best Spooky Locations To Visit In Canada

Canada seems like the perfect place to visit, especially during the winter. It has a lot to offer, from breathtaking nature to tasty cuisine. But that’s not all. If you are a fan of spooky stories, haunted places, and paranormal activity, then Canada has something else to offer you, as well. There are actually plenty of places in Canada that are alleged to be haunted by ghosts. So if you are looking for new spooky locations in Canada to visit in 2023, here are some that you shouldn’t miss out on.

The Old Spaghetti Factory

While it seems like nothing tied to spaghetti could be scary, the Old Spaghetti Factory located in Vancouver proves otherwise. Locals claim that the ghost of a former tram conductor haunts this restaurant, which was established on an old underground track. When entering this restaurant, you will feel like you have been transported back in time. The place is filled with antique furniture and stained glass, which adds to the overall spooky feel. But the scariest thing about this place is what started the ghost rumors in the first place. It’s the trolley car that was installed in the building in 1969. Some guests reported seeing the ghost of the uniformed tram conductor sitting on one of the dining tables located in this trolley. Others claim that he tried to take their orders. At least he sounds friendly!

Craigdarroch Castle

Are you a fan of haunted castles? Then you should definitely visit the Craigdarroch Castle located in Victoria. This mansion was built in the 1800s for a wealthy coal industrialist named Robert Dunsmuir and his wife. It has over 39 rooms and 28 acres of gardens. However, there have been a lot of deaths tied to the building process of this castle. Robert died just 17 months before the construction of the castle was finished, and not long after that, the first architect that worked on the castle died, too. But Robert isn’t the one supposedly haunting this place. Instead, it’s believed that it’s the restless spirit of his wife. Allegedly, visitors to this castle have heard her scream or even play the piano.

The Fairmont Empress

Another spooky location in Canada to visit in Victoria is the luxurious Fairmont Empress. This is one of the oldest and most famous hotels in British Columbia. It offers stunning ocean views, and a modern luxury feel, but also plenty of ghost stories. Staff and guests report regular sightings of a slender man with a mustache walking on the staircase and holding a cane. Allegedly, he is the ghost of Francis Rattenbury, the architect who helped build the hotel. Francis was so proud of his creation that he decided to never leave the place, not even after his death. The Fairmont Empress is also home to the ghost of a maid, who is nice enough to clean the rooms when guests aren’t watching. There are also a few more, like the ghost of an old lady knocking on doors, and a former employee who took his own life in the building.
