The Most Haunted Schools and Campuses Around the World

When you think of spooky and terrifying places, you probably don’t think about college campuses. At least not if you’re done with school. But truth be told, a lot of universities have been at the center of brutal murders, tragic accidents, and unsolved mysteries. So it comes as no surprise that many of them are rumored to be haunted, right? If you’re someone who loves exploring creepy and dark places, here’s a list of haunted schools and campuses around the world. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two from one of their wise ghosts.

Ohio University, Athens, Ohio

Ohio University is known for being one of the most haunted campuses in the United States. The university has a long history, dating back to 1804, and over the years, it has accumulated its fair share of ghost stories.

Wilson Hall, a former women’s dormitory, is one of the most well-known haunted locations on campus. According to legend, a student hung herself in the attic, and her spirit still haunts the structure. Students have reported seeing her, hearing unusual noises, and sensing a presence in the room.

The Ridges, which was originally home to the Athens Lunatic Asylum, is another haunted location on campus. Although the facility closed in 1993, the spirits of its patients are reported to haunt the place. Margaret Schilling, a patient who went missing in 1978, is The Ridges’ most renowned ghost. Her corpse was discovered in an abandoned ward a month later.

Cambridge University, Cambridge, England

Cambridge University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world, but it’s also one of the most haunted. The university has a long and colorful history, and its ghosts are said to be just as fascinating.

One of the most haunted spots at Cambridge is the New Court Staircase. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a student who died in a duel. The student’s ghost is said to walk up and down the stairs, carrying his severed head.

Another haunted spot on campus is the Whipple Museum of the History of Science, which is said to be haunted by the ghost of Robert Stewart Whipple, the museum’s founder. His ghost now haunts the courtyard, reciting his famous line “como decíamos ayer” (“as we were saying yesterday”). Another haunted spot on campus is the Torre del Clavero, which was once a prison for students who committed crimes.

University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada
