Here are just some of the spookiest places in Mexico that every ghost lover should visit at least once.

The Belén Cemetery, Guadalajara

The Belén Cemetery, also known as Panteón de Belén, is rumored to be haunted by a large number of different entities. It’s best known for an alleged vampire killing that took place in the 19th century. Instead of a tombstone, the place where the vampire was killed is marked with a huge tree. Legend says that when the Vampire Tree dies, the vampire buried beneath it will come back to life. There are different guided tours of this cemetery, and you even have the option to tour it at night.

The Island of Dolls, Mexico City

The Island of Dolls is located in the canals of Xochimilco, and it’s believed to be one of the most haunted places in Mexico. There are hundreds of decaying plastic dolls hanging from trees, and visitors claim that they come to life every night. Some say that they saw the dolls moving their heads, and eyes, or they even heard them cry or whisper. The story behind this island is more tragic than scary, and it involves the drowning of a young girl and a grieving man who struggled with mental health issues. We have a whole article about the Island of Dolls, so make sure to check it out of you want to learn more.

Hospicio Cabañas, Guadalajara

Only thinking about Hospicio Cabañas sends shivers down my spine. This is one of Mexico’s spookiest buildings. It was used as an orphanage, an asylum, and even as a military base. There are several different ghost stories tied to it, one of them saying that a huge clock that is located in this building stopped every time a child from the orphanage died. Today, this building is used as a museum, but visitors claim that the spirits of the dead children still haunt the halls of Hospicio Cabañas

Casa de los Tubos, Nuevo León

The Casa de los Tubos is an abandoned mansion just outside of Monterrey. The reason why it has found its place on our list is that there are numerous rumors claiming that this house is haunted by the ghost of an 11-year-old girl who allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the top window of this mansion. But this isn’t the only death that’s tied to the House of the Tubes. Due to its unique structure and design, many construction workers died in various accidents while building it.
