The Ultimate Guide to the Weird World Adventures Universe

Welcome to this weird world! As your guide, the creator of the Weird World Adventures TV Show and accompanying podcast, I’m here to show you just how weird this world of ours really is! So, let’s get started, shall we?

What is Weird World Adventures?

Weird World Adventures is a TV show coming to Amazon Prime Video and Tubi in the Spring of 2024! It shows you just how weird this world of ours really is. Join host Malorie Mackey, adventure expert and soon-to-be Master of the Occult, for this 30-minute episodic show as she drives across America (and later the globe) bringing the beauty, terror, and weirdness of our world to your television screens. Check out places you may either be too afraid to or too cool to visit yourself. From ghosts to psychics to the just-plain weird lives people live every day, we’re going to see it all on this unique travel show. Are you ready to explore this weird world?

Weird World Adventures started as a passion project for me that grew into so much more than I ever could have imagined. Once I was able to secure the Warren’s Occult Museum (with the real Annabelle doll!) and the Winchester Mystery House for our pilot episode, I knew we had a show! After several years of moving across production companies and switching plans to make more episodes, we had a full season and a release schedule on Amazon Prime and Tubi!

While working on Season 1 of the show, I created a podcast to talk about even more of the unusual things out there that we hadn’t yet covered on the TV show. This podcast was meant to be a companion to the TV show; however, it’s become much more, as well. We recorded 17 episodes in 2023, and we are launching new weekly podcasts in the Spring of 2024 to accompany the show release! Find below a full episode guide to Season 1 of the TV show and a guide to the current released podcast episodes, too!
Links directing you to each episode will be added as they become available to stream! Enjoy!

Podcast Episode 0- Welcome to My Weird World

In this special preview episode, I will be introducing you to who I am and explaining the topics we will be covering throughout the podcast of Malorie’s Weird World Adventures.

My name is Malorie Mackey, and I’ve always had a strong passion for everything dorky and unusual. My adventures have taken me from working as an editorial writer for various travel platforms to volunteering on scientific expeditions around the world. I’ve found that the character of a location can be found in the strange and unusual attractions it has, as well as in the unique traditions of its people. I have also discovered that there’s such a market for these non-mainstream locations. Thus was born my unique paranormal adventure show Weird World Adventures and this podcast, which will serve as a companion to the show, featuring unique locations, as well as discussing weird history and more unusual occult topics that I’m discovering on my journey to get my Master Degree in anthropology with a specialization in mythology, folklore, and occult studies.

Come with me as I explore this weird world of ours. From ghosts to psychics to metaphysical topics to weird history to unique traditions, we’re going to discuss it all on this unique podcast. Are you ready to explore this weird world with me?

Podcast Episode 1- Occult, Paganism, and Friday the 13th, Oh My!

Welcome to our first episode, Episode 1, of the Malorie’s Weird World Adventures Podcast! On this special Friday January 13th, we will discuss what exactly Occult really means versus the reputation it has today after giving you a brief overview of who I am and why I am hosting this podcast. (This will be paired down much more than in the special Episode 0 so those of you who listened to that episode don’t have to go through that whole rundown again.) I will go over some old early Christian Occult sects that no longer really exist. We will also discuss what Paganism means (and how it differs from the term “Occult”). And, of course, we will end this episode discussing the history of Friday the 13th and why (potentially) many consider it to be unlucky.

Podcast Episode 2- Legendary Figures Throughout History

Throughout history, we’ve idolized various legendary figures through epic tales of adventure and magic. Somehow, storytellers have taken real people who lived generally normal lives and grown and evolved their tales until they become mythological legends. For instance, the real Merlin was a bard (and possibly a druid) who later got immortalized in King Arthur’s Tale as an iconic wizard. The real Nicholas Flamel was a writer and was only called an alchemist by a publisher close to two hundred years after his death. We will discuss these legendary figures (and more!) in detail and have a conversation about why humanity seems to naturally inflate stories into epic legendary tales.

Podcast Episode 3- Weird Facts About Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde, an infamous duo surrounded in glamour, mystery, and legend, all thanks to the constant re-telling of their tale. While a lot is known about Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, there are also many weird facts about Bonnie and Clyde that very few know. (For instance, did you know that Bonnie was married but Clyde was not!?) Many of these little-known facts may very well surprise you. In this episode of Malorie’s Weird World Adventures the Podcast, we will talk all about the known, the little-known, and the weird facts surrounding Bonnie and Clyde.

Podcast Episode 4- Robben Island: One of the Strangest ‘Abandoned’ Places

Robben Island is, perhaps, one of my favorites places I’ve gotten to briefly live at throughout my adventures. This unique island has seen an unbelievable amount of history, from an Irish colony to a leper colony to a World War II base to a political prison to a museum. And today, it’s more or less abandoned with roughly only 30 people living on the island. Hear all about my adventures on Robben Island where I lived for a couple of weeks while working with scientists to help preserve the South African Penguins on this strange African Island.

Podcast Episode 5- A Conversation About Aliens with Candace Kita

On this episode of Malorie’s Weird World Adventures podcast, we discuss an incredibly popular topic found throughout our weird world- aliens. Candace Kita, Malorie’s dear friend and fellow model and actress, walks Malorie through her theories and research that she’s done on the possibility of alien life. Whether or not you believe in aliens, it’s definitely an interesting conversation.

Podcast Episode 6- A History of Divination: Runes & Tarot

Divination is a powerful tool and thematic topic that arises again and again throughout human history in different trends. After all, as humans, when things become out of our hands, it is in our nature to reach out to the divine to try and interpret our thoughts and see if we can call forth a future that may or may not yet be foretold. So, in this episode of Malorie’s Weird World Adventures the podcast, we will discuss two different forms of divination: runes and tarot cards.

Podcast Episode 7- An Artistic Journey in Belgrade

Belgrade, Serbia was the first place I ever visited after leaving the country for the first time. In my journey in Belgrade, I studied with the DAH Theatre before moving with my group to Herefordshire, England to continue my training in the world of theatre. Come with me as I tell you all about my biggest artistic journey in Belgrade and read the letter I wrote to my instructor after the experience.

Podcast Episode 8- A Quick Discussion on Sleep Paralysis

Sleep paralysis happens when you experience REM sleep while awake. In other words, your mind wakes up while your body is still asleep, leaving your unable to move. Growing up, I went through the whole gambit of sleep paralysis experiences; I had it happen where I was still partially dreaming and wasn’t in control of my thoughts (though more often than not I am fully awake and completely in control of my thoughts), I felt the ‘evil presence’ people sometimes feel when they go through this. I felt the sensation that I couldn’t breath and that someone was pushing on my chest or grabbing my heart. However, 99% of the time, it’s just me being conscious in my body which is incapable of movement. So, what do you do if you’re stuck in this state of sleep paralysis? In this episode of Malorie’s Weird World Adventures, we’re going to talk about just that!

Podcast Episode 9- Cambodia: Archaeology and Hero Rats

When one brings up Cambodia, it’s likely that your mind immediately goes to Angkor Wat and/or all the temples of Angkor. I was lucky enough, in 2019, to get to see the majestic temples of Angkor first hand prior to volunteering on an archaeological dig in Battambang, Cambodia. The experience was truly once-in-a-lifetime, and in this episode of Malorie’s Weird World Adventures, I want to share it with you. From the temples to archaeology to the hero rats of Cambodia (I can’t wait for you to hear about the rats), let’s discuss all that this wonderful country has to offer.

Podcast Episode 10- It’s All About Dungeons and Dragons

I think it’s finally time to discuss something that’s been a very consistent theme throughout my life and the lives of us ‘nerds’ everywhere- Dungeons and Dragons. This epic fantasy role-playing game has been a constant occurrence in my life as I’ve played weekly games for as far back as I can remember, participated in countless Halloween-conducted Ravenloft sessions, and am currently participating in 4 (I think) separate campaigns. So, I brought in two of the most well-versed DMs (Dungeon Masters) I know to discuss Dungeons and Dragons with me.

Podcast Episode 11-Let’s Talk About LARPing

LARPing, or Live Action Role Playing, is something that many of us have heard of (even if it’s just because of that ridiculous ‘Lightening Bolt Guy’ video that got famous) but most of us don’t know a lot about. Well, luckily for all of us, I have several friends who love to go out into that world, set up a tent, and LARP from time to time. What does this entail? I sat down with my friends Mickey and Healther to discuss LARPing in greater detail, and we’re going to cover just what that means in this episode of the Malorie’s Weird World Adventures the Podcast.

Podcast Episode 12- Audio Guided Meditation and the Monroe Institute

Throughout the last three years of my life, I’ve had an expansive and immersive journey through my own mind and intentions via meditation. My meditation adventures all center around The Monroe Institute, a meditation center in Faber, Virginia that teaches people how to have out-of-body experiences. If you can open up your mind and explore these audio-guided meditation exercises, they may very well change your life. In today’s podcast episode, I’ll talk about what the Monroe Institute is, the audio technology they use in their meditation exercises, and all about my personal experiences with their meditation.

Podcast Episode 13- Adventures in Northern Germany

Recorded in Essen, Germany, this episode of Weird World Adventures tells the tale of Malorie’s adventures on a press trip across Northern Germany, specifically traveling across Bremen, Bremerhaven, and the Luneburg Heath. We’ll discuss all that Northern Germany has to offer from immersive experiences to epic wilderness.

Podcast Episode 14- Adventures in Essen Germany

This episode of Weird World Adventures tells the tale of Malorie’s adventures on a press trip across Essen! We’ll discuss the history of this city as well as the Krupp family and their influence on Essen and its culture. We’ll also discuss what to do while you’re visiting Essen from urban hiking to searching for a church that houses virgin bones in Cologne.

Podcast Episode 15- The Body of Evita Peron

Evita Peron was a woman of power, mystery, and passion. Strangely enough, her story didn’t end with her death. After she passed away from cervical cancer in 1952, her body disappeared as it went on a journey around the world for 17 years. Join me as I discuss the legacy of Evita Peron and the impression she left behind on the world well after her death.

Podcast Episode 16- From the Explorers Club Annual Dinner

Joining the Explorers Club has been a life-long dream that came to fruition earlier this year. With it also came my very first Explorers Club Annual Dinner, an evening event surrounded by a weekend of activities at the Explorers Club with some of the greatest scientific minds. Join myself and my friend and fellow new Explorers Club member, Dakota Bailey, as we recap our very first Explorers Club Annual Dinner.

Podcast Episode 17- An Interview with Dakota Bailey on Egyptology

Join me as I interview Dakota Baily, a new member of the Explorers Club, as we discuss her journey into Egyptology. We discuss what it means being an Egyptologist and the surprising finds and fun things she’s learned on her journey into Egyptology.

Malorie Mackey is an actress, published author, and adventurer. Malorie grew up in Richmond, Virginia where she loved sports, the outdoors, animals, and all forms of art. She took to acting at a young age, so it was no surprise when she decided to go to college for theatre. While in college, Malorie studied body movement with the DAH Theatre in Belgrade, Serbia, voice in Herefordshire, England with Frankie Armstrong, and the business of theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Malorie moved from the East Coast to Los Angeles after receiving her BFA in Theatre Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon arriving in LA, Malorie participated in the Miss California USA 2011 Pageant where she won the “Friend’s Choice” Award (by popular vote) and received a beautiful award for it.

While living on the West Coast, Malorie accumulated over 40 acting credits working on a variety of television shows, web series, and indie films, such as the sci-fi movie “Dracano,” the Biography Channel show “My Haunted House,” the tv pilot “Model Citizen” with Angie Everhart, and the award-winning indie film “Amelia 2.0.”

Throughout her experiences, Malorie found a love for travel and adventure, having journeyed to over a dozen countries experiencing unique locations. From the lush jungles of the Sierra Madre mountain range to the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, Malorie began adventuring and writing about her unique travels. These travel excerpts can be found on VIVA GLAM Magazine, in Malorie’s Adventure Blog, in Malorie’s adventure show: “Weird World Adventures” and in the works for her full-length travel book.

In 2022, Malorie was thrilled to become a member of the Explorer’s Club through her work on scientific travel. Her experiences volunteering on archaeological and anthropological expeditions as well as with animal conservation allowed her entry into the exclusive club. Since then, Malorie has focused more on scientific travel.

Malorie’s show “Weird World Adventures” releases on Amazon Prime Video in the Spring of 2024! Stay tuned as Malorie brings the strangest wonders of the world to you!
