Urban Press Winery in Burbank Offers a Memorable Wine-Tasting Experience

Have you ever wanted to go grape stomping? Well, for all of us who watched I Love Lucy, this could very well be on your bucket list. I was lucky enough to attend the Garden Harvest Party & Grape Stomp at Urban Press Winery in Burbank, CA this past week, and it made my grape-stomping dreams a reality.

Urban Press Winery and Restaurant is a charming spot in the heart of downtown Burbank, and as soon as you walk in the property, you feel as if you are transported to another place out in the country. With a beautiful interior with chic design and a beautiful wooden terrace (where the event took place), you feel as if you are out in the countryside.

The Harvest Party event had us trying a variety of food found on the restaurant’s menu paired nicely with a delicious wine from Urban Press Winery. While the food was exceptional across the board, the wine really stole the show- and of course it would! It is a winery, after all. From the beet salad to the fava been puree to the lobster ravioli, risotto piemontese, and the salmon, the food was rich, flavorful, and also very unique. You call tell that Urban Press Winery’s chef adds his own unique flare to everything, making your dining experience memorable. And of course, the wine was exceptional. While it was all completely delicious, the 2017 Fiore Grenache Blanc and the 2019 Fille de Joie Syrah Rose really stole the show for me as my absolute favorites (if you need a recommendation while you’re there).

After an evening of delicious food and wine mixed with upbeat tunes, it was time for the wine stomping. I cannot tell you how exciting and fun that was for me! As I mentioned, growing up watching I Love Lucy, I couldn’t say no to the opportunity to stomp some grapes in a fun and light-hearted competition. There’s nothing like the feeling of sticking your bare feet into a wooden bucket of grapes. Something about that feeling is as exhilarating as stepping barefoot onto freshly cut spring grass. It immediately puts a smile on your face and pushes out giggles. And after a few minutes in the bucket, you not only feel like you’ve gotten a great leg workout, but you also suddenly feel as if you’ve developed a few techniques of your own while stomping wine.

All in all, I cannot recommend stopping in for a nice dinner or wine tasting experience at Urban Press Winery enough. Definitely keep an eye out for their upcoming events, as they are fantastic and can’t be missed!
