One of the most common places on everyone’s bucket list is Cappadocia. This gigantic area looks like something out of a fairytale. It spreads over several Turkish towns, and it’s most famous for all of the hot air balloons flying above the sky. It’s a hot spot for tourists, influencers, and soon-to-be fiancés. Because trust me when I tell you that you will witness at least one engagement while on your trip to Cappadocia. 

The three main cities of Cappadocia are Göreme, Uçhisar, and Ürgüp. While most tourists who visit this area do so with the intention of flying in an air balloon, there are so many other things that you could do here. Before you go to Cappadocia

Before you even start planning your trip to Cappadocia, there are a few things that you have to take into consideration. First of all — how much time do you have? This is a large area, and you should spend at least four days here to truly experience it. 

In addition to that, you have to remember that the summers in Turkey can get extremely hot. That means that the best time to visit Cappadocia is either in the spring or the fall. The weather will be nice enough to walk around the cities during the day and go to clubs and restaurants at night.

The three “triangle” cities are bustling with life, and you will want to make the most of each day. Wake up early and, ideally, rent a car while you are there. This will make it so much easier for you to get around. However, the public transportation system is pretty good, too. Taxis aren’t that expensive, and there are also plenty of buses that run every 30 minutes. 

Because you are exploring three cities, and not just one, it could get a bit overwhelming when trying to navigate your way around. Download maps of the cities that you can use even if you end up without an internet connection.

Göreme is the center of Cappadocia, and it’s also the place where most influencers take those stunning sunset photos. If you want to enjoy a beautiful sunset view while air balloons are flying through the sky, then book a dinner at one of Göreme‘s stunning terrace restaurants or hotels. 

It’s typical for tourists to stay in so-called cave hotels that overlook the city of Göreme. You will get some amazing views from these hotels, with the two most popular ones being the Mithra Cave Hotel and the Sultan Cave Suites. They are probably the two most photographed hotels in Cappadocia, and if you are looking to get some stunning Instagram content, these are the places to stay at.

What else is there to do in Cappadocia? 

This area isn’t just about the balloons and sunsets. There are also other things to do. While you’re there, you should definitely also pay a visit to Pigeon Valley and enjoy the view from the famous Göreme Panorama. Another notable location is the Selime Monastery. This is the biggest rock-cut monastery in Turkey and a great place to learn more about the local culture.
