The Easiest And Fastest Ways To Get Over Jet Lag
I bet you love traveling but you hate jet lag. Let’s be real, that is all of us. But jet lag simply is the price that you have to pay for long-distance trips. Some of us are more prone to it, while others will experience only minimal symptoms. However, no matter in which of the two mentioned categories you are in, there are ways to help you get over jet lag. We have made a list of some quick and easy things that you can do (or take) to help you get back on track, no matter how much out of your regular time zone you are.
Melatonin
There is nothing that can cure jet lag as easily as a good old melatonin supplement. However, don’t overdo it. People take unreasonably high concentrations of this supplement without a real reason. 3 mg will be more than enough to make you feel sleepy and help you fight off jet lag. Take it 30 minutes to 1 hour before you plan to go to bed, turn off your lights, put your phone on the charger, and just try to relax. (But do be sure to read our disclaimer on Melatonin, which is linked above.)
Hydration
Let’s not forget about the importance of hydration. Did you know that long-distance travel can cause your body to go into a state of dehydration? That’s not too strange, considering the fact that you are sitting on a plane, probably avoiding drinking too much water so you wouldn’t have to use the restroom nonstop. Increase your water intake, even if you don’t notice any symptoms of dehydration at first.
Coffee
This is a pretty obvious one, isn’t it? And probably the method most people will choose. However, it’s important to do it right. One iced chai latte won’t do the trick. Studies have shown that 300 mg of slow-release caffeine can enhance your alertness while traveling long distances. Make sure to drink your caffeine only during the morning and daytime. You don’t want to be fully caffeinated before going to bed.

Go enjoy the sunlight
Traveling to a different time zone can change our inner clock, which can cause or worsen our jet lag. To fight this off, make sure that you go outside during the daylight hours and get some vitamin D. This will help your body switch to a different time zone, and it can also help you recharge after a stressful fight. But don’t forget to apply lots of sunscreen.
Eat light and healthy meals
Heavy meals rich in unsaturated fats and carbs are going to make you feel tired and worn out. And that is the last thing you want when you are experiencing jet lag. Enjoy light but nutritious foods such as chicken, cherries, spinach, and salads. I know, who wants to eat healthy once they arrive in a foreign country that’s known for its delicious cuisine? However, you won’t have to do it forever. There will be plenty of time to indulge in pasta, baklava, paella, or whatever it is that you want to eat.
