Are you missing the spooky season? I know I am. Sure, spring and summer are great. You have the chance to go on stunning hikes, relax with your friends at the beach, and enjoy the numerous music festivals. But I just miss ordering my pumpkin spice latte, hearing the leaves crack from the weight of my foot, and the chilly autumn air completely ruining my hairstyle. Okay, maybe I don’t miss that. But it’s still better than having your hair ruined by an April rainstorm. If you’re like me, and you just miss the spooky season, here are five haunted houses that you can visit. 

Cutting Edge Haunted House

The Cutting Edge Haunted House is located in Dallas, Texas. And there is a reason why it’s in the first spot. It was built in 1908, but there have obviously been numerous updates throughout the years. Originally, this was a meatpacking plant. And a lot of the machinery is still used for the purpose of the haunted house experience. Only thinking about that scares me from head to toe. 

It’s the largest haunted house in the world, and believe me when I tell you that this 235,000-square-foot house of horror will make all of your worst nightmares come true. There are around 32 actors that will absolutely terrify you with the help of a heart-pounding sound system, numerous sets, and realistic-looking monsters. 

13th Gate Haunted House

This is considered to be one of the scariest haunted houses in America, and it’s located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It’s 40,000-square-foot big and consists of 13 different indoor and outdoor areas. All of them are equally as frightening and have the potential to freeze the blood in your veins. 

The 13 different scenes are full of the worst imaginable things. Live snakes, terrifying clowns, frantic monsters, a haunted asylum, and there is even a dragon that’s crawling through a crematory oven. And all of these things are unbelievably realistic. Anything can happen in the 13th Gate Haunted House, and there is even a terror zone where most of the visitors decide to leave.

Headless Horseman

The name alone of this haunted house located in Ulster Park, New York, is scary enough. But it gets even worse. This is one of the most popular haunted houses in New York, and it’s obvious why. However, it’s not just one house. It’s a complex of six different haunted houses in addition to a labyrinth corn maze. 

Numerous live actors will jump out at you at any moment, and you will feel like you are in a real-life horror movie. Besides the actors, there are also different species effects, monsters, and sounds that will send chills down your spine. 

Eloise Asylum

The Eloise Asylum is located in Westland, Michigan. This is one of the most popular haunted sites in the Midwest. The asylum is an enormous building that consists of five stories. It’s home to numerous haunted attractions, but also escape rooms, and more. 

The thing that sets this haunted house experience apart is that the building used for it is actually a haunted asylum. There is so much history tied to this place that it would require an article of its own. It pioneered psychiatric treatments such as electroshock therapy, occupational therapy, and television therapy. 

Netherworld Haunted House

The Netherworld Haunted House is located in Atlanta, Georgia. But to keep things fun and interesting, this haunted house switches up its theme each year to keep visitors on their toes. There are numerous live actors, special effects, and realistic-looking monsters. Some of the scenes that you can see in Netherworld were even used in the movie ‘Zombieland’.
